Built Through Sport
Bellerose High School Leadership students spend their lunch hour with the GOALS students. Ben would go in everyday and try to make conversation with a student they would never talk back to him. When asked why keep going back? “I could feel that there would be success. Why would I give up when I know they connection is there.” Later said: “At our peers mentorship meetings we talk about the GOALS population is no different. We are all excited to see the journey and see success.” “Our students just do this naturally [saying hi in the halls, everyone is friends], this is just what we do.” Ben Becigneul (Grade 12 Student Mentorship/Student Leadership Program) Started in grade 10 and has continued for 3 years.

I value UNIFIED sports because I like playing basketball with my friend Nic. I am really good at dribbling, passing the ball and shooting hoops. – Evan (student athlete)

The Impact of Unified Sports
Unified is undoubtedly the most meaningful thing I could have done with my time at Memorial Composite High School. Being part of a club that embraces everyone and bridges the gap between students in the LAWS program and students outside of it is something really special. I wish more people could see the impact it has, not only on the LAWS students and partners, but on everyone involved. The smiles and friendships that came from Unified are something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. Over the years, we’ve created such a close-knit friend group, especially among the seniors who have been in the club since grade 10. I’m also incredibly grateful for all of the staff members who make everything possible. - Grade 12 Unified Partner
