Special Olympics Alberta celebrates the YMCA of Lethbridge for their commitment to inclusive sport. As one of our early partners, the YMCA of Lethbridge has offered youth programming, adult programming, and been an incredible friend to Special Olympics Alberta and Special Olympics Lethbridge, forging a strong relationship with their local program
The YMCA of Lethbridge offers programs designed for those of any age living with intellectual/developmental and/or physical disabilities on the fundamentals of movement important for sport and life. Participants will finish the program with better endurance, coordination, and make new friends along the way.
When asked why they wanted to work with Special Olympics Alberta, the YMCA of Lethbridge said:
The reason we wanted to partner with the special Olympics is because we want to provide the same services to All members of the community. We want to be inclusive which to us means providing the same opportunities to everyone regardless of skill and ability, to meet people where they are at and not force them into a specific mold.
Active Start
Special Olympics Canada offers child and youth programs designed to help children with an intellectual disability develop basic motor skills and sport skills through fun and positive movement experiences.
