We recognize that just as people with intellectual disabilities are a vibrant part of every community, so too are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) individuals. Both communities share the strength of diversity, and both have long been on a journey to ensure dignity, respect, and equal rights for all. This June, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where inclusion is not just a value but a reality.
We are honored to celebrate and uplift the LGBTQ+ athletes, staff, volunteers, families, and partners who are part of our Special Olympics Alberta family. While sports are at the heart of what we do, our vision extends beyond the playing field to a world where every person is embraced, accepted, and celebrated for who they are.
As we honor Pride Month, we stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors. Together, we are working to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create a future where every individual is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Inclusion is our shared goal. Unity is our strength.
