FAQ - everything you need to know

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of gear and equipment do I need to have for practice?

For practice:
Athletic clothes, water bottle, athletic shoes.
You can bring curling shoes or brushes if you have but will also be provided.
For Competition:
Individual curlers on the respective team must have matching on-ice apparel. Such apparel may include matching pants, jacket and golf shirt.
All curling brushes are acceptable.

Do you need experience to participate in this sport?

No! All new and returning athletes are welcome to participate and compete in this sport. 

"What are the Special Olympics Regulation Games (competitions/games)?"

The regulation games consist of 6 Full ends plus any extra
ends to break the tie if necessary (some competition format may not require to break a tie). No end shall be started after 1 hour and 50 minutes playing time unless an extra end was required to break the tie.
The game shal be called if, after 4 full ends of play, one team leads another by 10 points or more.

What happens if there is inclement weather?

Weather cancellations are determined on the day of the program. If severe weather is forecasted during program time, the program will typically be cancelled (snowstorms, extreme cold warnings, etc.)
