Athlete Registration
The aim of the registration process for the 2025-2026 program season is to continue to make things as simple as possible – for you! As such, we are proceeding with registration using an online Microsoft Form for this season.
Some changes you will see on the Registration Form:
If you are a returning athlete and don’t have any changes to your address or medical information, you don’t have to provide this information again.
Returning athletes no longer need to fill out waivers (unless your guardianship has changed since last year).

To register as an athlete with Special Olympics Calgary, you need to:
1. Review the Program Information Sheet
Open and read through the Program Information Sheet to see the details of the Sport Programs we are offering this year including dates, times, locations, and fees that may have changed.
The following programming changes are in effect for the 2025-2026 season:
Many facilities have not confirmed our bookings, so there may be changes to your program dates and location prior to the start of your chosen program.
The Program Information Sheet is now separated based on the fall/winter and spring seasons. You can register for all programs at this time.
Active Start (Age 2-5) and FUNdamentals (Age 6-8) programs will not be running again this year! We will be trying to come up with some new activities for the younger age groups.
Cross Country Skiing: Will be going out to William Watson Lodge 3 times throughout the season. Dates will be communicated when the season starts. Fees includes bussing to and from the lodge
Soccer – Will now include scrimmage games during weekly programs
Figure Skating – Dates and times will be communicated as soon as ice is secured.
Floor Ball (All levels) – Floor Ball is a new program to Special Olympics Calgary. This season will focus on sport rules, building skills, and will lead to games/scrimmages. Facilities and times may be added or adjusted pending registration numbers.
Floor Hockey (intermediate and novice) – A recreational floor hockey program will be offered at the intermediate and advanced levels. This will be a shinny style program.
Youth swimming- This program will be held at Vivo. Athletes will be placed in one of 2 45-minute sessions.
Intermediate swimming – Intermediate swimmers must be able to swim 4 laps of freestyle without assistance, swim 4 laps of backstroke without assistance, should have a familiarity with breaststroke, and must be 14 or older. If they are younger than 14, Head Coach approval is required
Advanced swimming – Advanced swimmers must be able to swim 6 lengths freestyle without assistance, 4 lengths backstroke without assistance, and must be familiar with breaststroke & butterfly. Athletes may be moved down to intermediate if these requirements are not met.
2. Complete the Microsoft Registration Form online
The Microsoft Form is the only way to register. You cannot use the online portal to register.
Completing the registration form does not automatically mean you are confirmed in programs. You will receive a confirmation email from SOCalgary indicating which program(s) you are able to participate in and your total registration fees for the year.
All programs are subject to change due to facility availability, meeting athlete to coach/volunteer ratios, and athlete enrollment considerations.
New This Year!
Payment Options:
- Online Payments: We will be offering online payment options this year. Online payments will be subject to a 3% service fee that will be applied to the overall cost owed. More information for this option will come out in the confirmation emails!
- Credit/Debit Payments: We will continue to use Credit/Debit payments which can be made in person or over the phone. Credit/Debit payments will be subject to a 3% service fee that will be applied to the overall cost owed.
- Cash and Cheque options will still be available!
One Page Athlete Information Sheets:
- For those that have been with us for a long time you know we require all athletes to fill out a 1-Page Athlete Information Sheet. This year once you have completed your registration you will be provided with a link that will take you to our new online 1-Page Information Form. Please fill out this form as soon as you are done registering! This link will also be provided in the confirmation email. We will need this filled out before the athlete can attend their program(s).

Volunteer Registration
2025-2026 marks 44 years that Special Olympics Calgary has been in the community providing sporting opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We could not do this without YOU.
Please complete the online registration sooner than later to help us determine if we have enough volunteers to be able to offer the programs to our athletes.
Thank you for being part of our Special Olympics Family!
