“I have always loved sports. I joined teams in school and never got to play. When I joined Special Olympics I finally got to play! Now I feel I have the ability and not a disbility. Now I fit in” Peter Arsenault, Team Alberta

On behalf of the athletes, coaches and volunteers thank you for generously supporting Special Olympics. Support from these organization, countless individuals, and tremendous donations of volunteer time, allow more than 30000 athletes to experience the joy of sport and achieve their dreams.

Law Enforcement Agencies have been supporting Special Olympics athletes since 1981. This year alone, the Alberta Law Enforcement Torch Run presented Special Olympics with more than $120,000 to support provincial and local programs. The success of Torch Run is dependent on many law enforcement officers who graciously give their time to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics. Money is raised through a number of events including Free the Fuzz Wal-Mart sits, Cops & Lobsters at Red Lobster locations, and various torch runs and bike rides across the province. Special thanks to all of the officers who endured bad weather, contributed countless hours, and spread a message that Special Olympics is about all that is possible.

Special Olympics is grateful for support from the Alberta Lottery Fund, including significant contributions to Team Alberta, provincial development and regional programs through the Community Initiatives Program. In addition Special Olympics benefits greatly with support from Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation. Annual support from The Foundation offsets operating costs at the Percy Page Centre and also supports a variety of Sport and Community Development Initiatives.

Special Olympics is honoured to be the charity of choice for The Motor Dealers Association of Alberta. The MDA has been a friend to Special Olympics for more than 20 years and has raised $2 Million dollars. This depth of caring and commitment is truly unique to Motor Dealers Association. The annual Motor Dealers Association Charity Classic breaks records and sets new standards for performance and volunteer commitment year over year. In addition to support through the Charity Classic, many member dealers support local programs and events. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the Motor Dealers Association, Member Dealers, and MDA staff for continuing to support Special Olympics and helping our athletes to win at life!
