Glossary

Language
Special Olympics always attempts to use language that puts people first. In our efforts to promote propriety, equality and accurate communications, we sometimes use terms, acronyms and phrases that may not be entirely familiar to some people who visit this web page.

This section of the web site is to help explain any terms that may have caused confusion. Whenever possible, we have linked directly from those terms to their respective definitions.

If you have found a term on this web site that you feel causes confusion, causes offense or is inaccurate please e-mail us at info@specialolympics.ab.ca, and we will attempt to either improve the language or create a definition in this glossary.
