About Games

Special Olympics involves both ongoing programs and quadrennial games.

Every four years Special Olympics hosts regional games, provincial games, national games and world games. These events are staggered so that an athlete who competes in regional games one year can progress to provincial games the next.

These events are the most high-profile competitions within Special Olympics.
